Classroom News
This week we focused on Healthy Bodies.  We talked about how we can stay healthy, why visiting the dentist and doctor are important, read Bear Feels Sick, used an apple to show how cavities can get bigger, sang a teeth brushing song, discussed what germs are, watched a video about how germs spread, did a germ spreading activity with baby powder, and played in our “doctor’s office”.  We had a parent visitor who gifted us a tooth brushing pouch!  In our small groups we played a dice game to grow our teeth and then loose them, decorated Q's with paint and Q-tips, and practiced writing H, T, I, and J.

Classroom News
This week we focused on Friendship.  We talked about what a friend is, how to act like a friend, getting along, helping your friends be their best self, painted with heart cutters, played with heart stampers, explored heart links on the light table, and read a funny story Kiss Me, I’m Perfect.  We sang “I Have a Friend” and spelled our names and sorted them by letter along our alphabet line.  In our small groups we watched a video and read our Weekly Reader, sorted letters by straight lines, curve lines, and slant lines, and decorated V’s with valentine hearts.  We had a great time handing out our cards and treats!  We were also able to decorate a cookie with frosting and sprinkles to celebrate friendship.

This week we focused on Forest Animals.  We talked about what animals live in the forest, what they eat, what kinds of homes they have, how they look, read The Busy Tree, saw a video about shadows, and explored shadow making with our bodies and hands.  In our small groups we decorated G with glue and green paper, played a squirrel dice game, and read our Weekly Reader about groundhogs.  During our second circle time we “Lettercised” by to a song about letter sounds and exercising.  Our nursery rhyme was “Grey Squirrel” and we learned the vocabulary of bushy, wrinkle, and grey.  Next week we will be celebrating friendship.  On Friday we will end our week by decorating friendship cookies.

Classroom News
This week we focused on Bears.  We learned about different kinds of bears: black, grizzly, polar, and sun bears, what bears eat, what their babies are called, watched a video about hibernation, and measured how tall they are.  We read The Bear Who Didn’t Like Honey, tasted honey, sang “5 Little Fuzzy Bears”, played in our “Bear Cave”, and went on a bear hunt.  In our small groups we sorted, counted, and practiced writing numbers with gummy bears, colored B’s with blue, black, and brown markers, and practiced handwriting L, E, and F.  At this time, we are practicing ALL capitals.  Our big rule for letter formation is to start at the TOP.  As I see correct letter formation with capitals, I will be teaching lowercase.
